Letter from Philip Showalter Hench to John J. Moran, July 6, 1937

Yellow fever.

July 6, 1937
Mr. John Moran
Blue Sonoco Oil Co.
Havana, Cuba
My dear Mr. Moran:

As a physician particularly interested in medical
history, I have been long interested in the story of the yellow
fever work in Havana. I have been anxious to get in touch with
the survivors of this work.

I understand that you recently gave a talk on the
radio, and I hope that the address that I am using is correct.
I would appreciate it very much indeed to be permitted to see a
copy of your script. I should like so much to visit you sometime
to hear your interesting side-lights and experiences with this
work, and I regret that I did not know you were in Havana, as I
was there just about three months ago. Do you expect to be
permanently located in Havana, or do you plan to be in the States
in the future? I am interested in preparing a little article for
our local staff meeting on the yellow fever work, and I am inter-
ested to know your whereabouts and present occupation.

You men who volunteered for these services made a great
contribution to humanity, and you can be proud of your services.
I would appreciate hearing from you at your convenience, and
sincerely hope that we will have the privilege of meeting you in
the future.

Very truly yours,

P. S. Hench, M. D.
